Welcome to Helpings, a shared recipe box, shopping list, and meal planner for a household. These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Up & Adam, LLC (Ohio, United States) ("Helpings", "we", "us") covering your use of the Helpings app and gethelpings.com (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Helpings is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13; you must be at least 13 to create an account, and if you are under the age of majority where you live you must have a parent or guardian's permission. You are responsible for everything done under your account.
Helpings is built for sharing within a household ("kitchen"). When you create or join a kitchen with an invite or share code, the recipes, shopping list, meal plan, ratings, notes, and photos in that kitchen are visible to and editable by the other members. Anyone with your share code can join, so share it only with people you trust, and generate a new code from Settings if you need to. Shared content that belongs to the kitchen stays with the kitchen when you leave, so you do not erase everyone else's box. Do not add content you would not want the people you invite to see.
Helpings uses automated tools to read structured recipe data when it is available. If usable structured data is not available for a link, Helpings may use the third-party AI provider Anthropic to extract a draft from the page text; photo imports also use Anthropic to read the selected images. Our Privacy Policy explains what is sent and how it is handled. Automated and AI extraction can misread quantities, omit details, or otherwise get things wrong. Always review an imported recipe before you save, cook, or shop from it, and check it against the original source.
Do not rely on Helpings for allergy, dietary, or medical safety. Diet tags, allergen flags, "high protein" and similar labels, and any nutrition figures are automated, best-effort estimates that may be incomplete or wrong. They are not medical, dietary, or nutritional advice. Always read the actual product labels and confirm ingredients yourself, and consult a qualified professional for any allergy, health, or dietary condition. You are responsible for what you cook and eat.
You keep ownership of the content you create in Helpings. To operate the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, back up, and display that content, and to sync it to the other members of your household, for the purpose of providing Helpings to you. This license ends when the content is deleted, except for backups that age out on our normal schedule. We do not use your content to build advertising profiles or to train advertising models.
The Helpings name, logo, app, website, and design are owned by Up & Adam, LLC and are protected by law. These Terms do not give you any right to use our branding except as needed to use the Service normally.
Helpings is offered on an "as is" and "as available" basis, and parts of it may be in beta. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may set or change the terms of any free and paid tiers. We do not promise the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that imported data will be accurate. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Up & Adam, LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty-five US dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
You can stop using Helpings at any time and delete your account from Settings → Delete Account. We may suspend or end access to the Service if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing any claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve it. You and Helpings agree that the state and federal courts located in Ohio will have jurisdiction over any dispute that is not resolved informally, to the extent permitted by law.
If we make material changes we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
